Pressure

Powerful instruments for process pressure, differential pressure, level and flow.

Pressure

Pressure measurement includes instruments that quantify absolute pressure, gauge pressure, and differential pressure in liquids, pastes, and gases. In process plants, pressure is both a primary variable and a derived input for other measurements—hydrostatic level, density inference, and differential-pressure flow are common examples—so transmitters are often selected with equal focus on measurement performance and integration.

Endress+Hauser’s pressure offering spans sensor technologies and device families suited to varied duties, from general service to hygienic and hazardous-area applications. Absolute/gauge and differential pressure measurement are core categories, with product families such as Cerabar and Deltabar referenced for bridging conventional measurement points to IIoT-oriented capabilities.

The benefits of well-applied pressure instrumentation show up quickly in equipment protection and process stability: avoiding pump cavitation and run-dry conditions, monitoring filters and heat exchangers for fouling, controlling vessel pressure during reaction and distillation, and maintaining stable utilities such as steam and compressed gases. Differential pressure transmitters can also support detection of problems such as plugged impulse lines, enabling earlier intervention before a measurement failure escalates.

Integration and usability features increasingly influence standardization. Endress+Hauser highlights that modern transmitters build a bridge to IIoT while supporting productivity and safety, and the product selection includes a range of communication and interface options (e.g., IO-Link, Bluetooth Low Energy, embedded web server, HART) to align with plant architecture and lifecycle expectations.

Typical applications include reactor and tank pressure control, hydrostatic level measurement in vessels and sumps, differential pressure across filters and strainers, flow measurement with primary elements, boiler and steam header monitoring, and sanitary pressure measurement where cleanability and compact installation are critical. Appropriate diaphragm materials, process connections, and calibration strategy complete the measurement point to deliver long-term stability in harsh environments.
